Nebraska Wheat Board Welcomes 2026–2027 Intern Kallie Eisenzimmer
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Wheat Board (NWB) is excited to welcome Kallie Eisenzimmer as the 2026–2027 Communications and Outreach School Year Intern.
Eisenzimmer is a sophomore at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she is majoring in agribusiness with a minor in animal science and has interest in attending law school. A native of Big Springs, Nebraska, Eisenzimmer grew up on a row crop operation growing corn, soybeans and wheat. Since she was 10 years old, she has been involved in wheat harvest, amongst other farming operations including summer tillage, disking corn stalks and her newest skill, operating the combine during wheat harvest.
“One of my favorite ways to start a summer morning is checking pivots with my farm dogs,” Eisenzimmer said. “It’s a simple part of farm life that I’ve always enjoyed.”
Through her internship with the Nebraska Wheat Board, Eisenzimmer hopes to expand her knowledge of the wheat industry and gain a better understanding of the journey Nebraska wheat takes after leaving the farm.
“I’m looking forward to gaining a better understanding of where Nebraska wheat goes after it leaves the farm and seeing how the work of our wheat farmers connects to the larger industry,” Eisenzimmer said. “I’m also excited to build my communication and professional skills, meet people throughout the wheat industry and gain experience that will help me as I pursue a career in agriculture.” A few of the responsibilities of the internship include managing the NWB’s social media platforms, sharing weekly crop reports, coordinating communication efforts for the weekly radio segment with KRVN. Other duties include, helping with outreach initiatives, taking part in various trade shows, and supporting educational opportunities.
“I’ve always enjoyed being involved in agriculture and finding ways to share what I’ve learned with others,” Eisenzimmer said. “This internship gives me the opportunity to combine that passion with my interest in communications while learning more about the Nebraska wheat industry and helping share the stories of the producers who make it possible.”
Eisenzimmer’s involvement in agriculture extends beyond her family farm. Growing up, Eisenzimmer was heavily involved in 4-H and FFA, holding various leadership roles and gaining experience in many project areas.
Outside of the classroom, she enjoys rodeoing and is a member of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Rodeo Team, competing in breakaway roping. Eisenzimmer is also an active member of the Sigma Alpha
Sorority, where she serves on the recruitment committee.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the lake in the summer, and attending concerts.
The Nebraska Wheat Board administers the check-off of 0.5% of net value of wheat marketed in Nebraska at the point of first sale. The board invests the funds in programs of international and domestic market development and improvement, policy development, research, promotion, and education.
